1. Who we are

SpendShield (“SpendShield,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a personal-finance application operated by Nexint Technology Solutions. This Privacy Policy applies to the SpendShield mobile application and the spendshield.app website (together, the “Service”).

2. Our core privacy principle

SpendShield is designed so that your financial data is processed locally on your device. Transaction details, account balances, categorizations, scanned statements, and scanned receipts are stored in an encrypted database on your device and are not transmitted to or retained on our servers. Because we do not hold this data, we cannot sell it, mine it, or expose it in a server breach.

3. Information processed on your device

The following stays on your device and is not sent to us:

• Transactions, balances, and account information imported from linked financial institutions.
• Categories, budgets, goals, notes, and other data you create in the app.
• Images of statements or receipts you scan, and the text extracted from them. Optical character recognition runs locally; images are not uploaded.

4. Information we do collect

To operate the Service, we handle a limited set of information:

Account & contact information

If you join our waitlist or contact support, we collect the email address you provide so we can respond and, where you have asked us to, send product updates. If we offer accounts or subscriptions, we (or our payment processor) collect the information needed to manage them.

Payment information

Paid plans are billed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or a third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number; we receive only the subscription status and limited billing metadata needed to provide the plan.

Diagnostic & usage information

We may collect aggregated, non-identifying diagnostics such as crash reports, app version, device type, and feature-usage counts to keep the app stable. These reports are designed not to include your financial data.

5. Connecting your bank

When you link a financial institution, the connection is established through a third-party aggregation provider (such as Plaid). You authenticate directly with the provider; SpendShield does not see or store your online-banking username or password. Transaction data retrieved through the connection is delivered to your device. Your use of the aggregation provider is also governed by that provider’s own privacy policy.

6. How we use information

We use the limited information described above to: provide and maintain the Service; process subscriptions; respond to your messages; send updates you have requested; monitor stability and prevent abuse; and comply with legal obligations. We do not use your financial data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

7. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We share the limited information we hold only with: service providers who help us operate the Service (such as payment processors, email delivery, and crash reporting) under contractual confidentiality obligations; and authorities where required by law. If our business is involved in a merger or acquisition, information may be transferred subject to this policy.

8. Data retention

Data stored on your device remains until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. You can erase all in-app data at any time using “Delete All Data” in Settings. Contact and diagnostic information we hold is retained only as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law.

9. Security

On-device data is held in an encrypted store, and you can add an app lock and biometric protection. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but our architecture is built to minimize what could ever be exposed — your financial data is not on our servers to begin with.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because most of your data lives only on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly in the app. For information we hold, contact us at privacy@spendshield.app.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice through the Service. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
